Audrey Laine Sawyer is coming down the mountain from Asheville to sell her wares at The Handmade Market for the first time. Welcome, Audrey! We love the way she melds metal, wood, leather, resin, and found objects for the jewelry in her Audrey Laine Collection. Audrey likes to transform small things into beautiful objects, and her earrings, necklaces, and rings are all a testament to that artistic vision.
How did you come up with your business name? I love Albertus Seba’s Cabinet of Natural Curiosities. In my mind the word Collection encompasses this concept of capturing something natural for the purpose of observing it. Of course, as a jewelry artist, I also hope my patrons will curate their own collections of my work.
Tell us about your newest style, design, or creation. I recently made a mold of a shark’s tooth I found that I’m casting in silver and bronze to use as focal points of one of a kind necklaces and simple stud earrings.
Is there a new item that you’d like to share? Shark’s Tooth Studs!
Are there any new skills or techniques that you’d like to learn? A friend recently told me about a new method of etching metal that doesn’t require such heavy acids, which would be a great way to add surface details.
Stop by the Audrey Laine Collection table at The Handmade Market this Saturday, November 8. We know you’ll appreciate Audrey’s modern, natural aesthetic and might find the perfect gift for a friend or something special for yourself.
