Artist Spotlight: OXHIP Studio

OXHIP Studioraffle donor

The Handmade Market welcomes back Liz Bradford and  OXHIP Studio of Raleigh, North Carolina. Liz is a scientific illustrator by trade, whose product line is how she shares her immense love of all things science with the world. Each OX HIP Studio print, card, and screen printed item is handmade by Liz and features her original illustrations.

What item are you most excited to bring to The Handmade Market?

I have some new dino screen printed goods that I am pretty excited about.

What is your most favorite distraction in the studio right now?

Whenever I am getting low energy in the studio, I do handstands against the wall to get energized!

How do you unwind from an intense day?

Yoga. Then sushi, wine and animal cuddling!

Which artist at The Handmade Market are you excited to meet?

Sunny Mullarkey Studio. I love her insect art!

Beach or ocean or shore?

Shore. Lying on the shore.

Artistically speaking, who is your doppelgänger?

I am in no way close, but I find constant inspiration from John James Audubon.

Bugatti, ’67 Mustang, or Tesla?

What are your color addictions ? Why are you moved by them?

I love rich, dark browns, grays, black and gold. They call to mind dramatic chiaroscuro paintings.

With which participating artist would you LOVE to collaborate?

Liz Kelly – I can see some cool animal skeletons on mugs!

Be sure to visit OXHIP Studio‘s table and check Liz’s amazing artwork at The Handmade Market on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at Market Hall.
