Lauran and Shawn from The Void Catalog
Describe your style, influences, inspiration, and what you plan to bring:
We love the idea of producing icons with which people can associate, whether that be a favorite animal or a particular natural object that appeals to one’s creative sensibilities. Making these shapes out of paper and in a minimal style lets the subject speak for itself. We are always asking each other what would look good on a wall in a studio, on a dresser in a nursery, or on the kitchen fridge.
Our bestsellers have been the feather and the leaves. But we are always adding more designs and having fun watching what becomes most popular!
In you experience, what has been your best venue for selling your work:
We are still beginning our paper cutting venture, but our best avenue thus far has been through Facebook and word-of-mouth. All of these sales have been through Etsy so we are excited to sell our prints in a face-to-face environment!
What is your favorite way to put yourself in the mood for creativity?:
When we go on a cutting binge, we’ll give our dogs a couple bones to chew and blast some 80’s hits. Having the windows open and daylight beaming into our apartment always puts us in the creative spirit.
Which artist at The Handmade Market are you excited to see/meet?:
The two of us are new to the area (seeya, Cleveland!), as well as new to the Handmade Market. With that in mind, we’re super excited to meet all of our crafty neighbors! We are definitely looking to become a part of the culture, and can’t see a better way to do that.
