Urban Vintage Spotlight: The Block Vintage

Mary Brady from The Block Vintage

Were can customers usually shop your wares?
Online and at shows.

Describe your influences, inspiration, and what you plan to bring:
Current fashion is always mimicking past trends, like how the ’90s are so in style right now. I try to stock my shop with vintage pieces that sync up with what’s current. Anybody can buy a 1990’s-style high cut bodysuit from Forever21, but how much cooler would it be to have a high cut bodysuit from the actual ’90s that 2,000 other girls don’t have right now? Other than that, I go for loud colors, crazy patterns and things that I like that I hope other people will like too!
Who are your style crushes/vintage icons/fashion muses, and why/how do they influence you?:
Kelly Taylor and Brenda Walsh – sometimes Donna Martin!

What are the things customers seek you out for?:
I think people seek me out for actual “wearable” vintage. There are lots of online stores full of gorgeous vintage gowns and outrageous pieces that a customer might get to wear one time to a fancy event or costume party. I try to avoid picking those pieces and lean toward more casual items and things that are versatile and practical – but still unique.
