We did it! We braved the outdoor show and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! Well, it could have been a little warmer but, OH that sunshine was beautiful! And it was such a pleasure to see families enjoying our downtown park!

A huge thank you once again to all you Central North Carolina shoppers for coming downtown to see what Made & Found at the Square was all about. What a great array of vendors to kick off the Holiday Shopping season!

Did you love the mix of vintage and handmade as much as we did? It was just as we had dreamed up, two markets in one. All that fabulous vintage, mid century and found treasure mixed in with the beautiful wares of our talented artists! We hope you purchased lots of gifts for those on your holiday shopping lists AND some sweet buys for yourself! We sure did!

Thank you to Moore Square and Raleigh Parks and Recreation for asking us to produce this show. We loved helping to show off the beautifully renovated downtown Raleigh Park and you were a dream to work with.

With the marking of our “LAST SHOW” it only seems fitting that we reminisce. We started as a group of 9 friends who loved to create. We would meet weekly at Poole’s Diner to craft together and brainstorm. What started out as “let’s do a show together under the name Bead The People”, turned into a great partnership. Since we didn’t all ‘bead’ we came up with the name Handmaidens (LONG before The Handmaid’s Tale made its debut!). After much success at the Boylan Heights Art Walk together, we knew Raleigh needed more opportunities like that for artists and crafters to sell their wares. That’s when The Handmade Market was born and eventually Urban Vintage. We never thought we would still be doing this 15 years later! A lot of life moments happen in 15 years. Marriages, children, divorces, re-marriages, more children, lots and lots of pets and now grandchildren. Eventually, the size of the partnership went from 9 women to 4.

We are so grateful that the little seeds that were sown so long ago at Poole’s Diner turned into some pretty great shows! Thanks to everyone who stood in line before the shows and made us feel your anticipation! Thanks to all the great artists who have blown us away with your talent and friendships. And all you shoppers, thanks to each of you for coming through our doors show after show. We will never forget.
