Kelly & Wendy from Two Busy Little Bees
Describe your style, influences, inspiration, and what you plan to bring:
Crafting was always happening in our house growing up. Year after year, season after season, holiday or not we were busy little bees making something. Inspiration for us came easy as our mother and grandmother were masters at hot gluing, stenciling, sewing, ironing, bedazzling, glittering, arranging, cooking and influencing us to create. It seems so fitting that we sisters are designing for you items that are so strongly rooted from our traditions.
Wendy and Kelly, designers and creators of Two Busy Little Bees, use up-cycled materials, original designs, and love when crafting our one of a kind toys and activities for children. Our grandmother made for us heirloom quality busy books that our children enjoying playing with today. Reliving memories by seeing these books in our children’s hands, we recognized the need for such a treasure for other children.
We are inspired daily through our children, our own busy little bees. These inspirations come from the things they are learning, our daily play, the bright tactile fabrics they wear, or our silly family sayings. Our handmade style is a combination of bold colors, playful textured fabrics, and clean lines. We value making quality, sustainable products, that will help children to learn through interactive play.
Two Busy Little Bees will bring to the Handmade Market a combination of our “My Busy Books,” “lil busy books,” novelty onesies, and some small activities. Come stop by our booth and check us out!
In your experience, what has been your best venue for selling your work:
The best way to showcase the quality of our toys is having the public see them first hand. Giving people of all ages an opportunity to interact with our products allows them a chance to fall in love with our handmade work. In addition, watching the public react and relive memories from their childhood when seeing our products, is such a fun and wonderful sight!
What is your favorite way to put yourself in the mood for creativity?:
Wendy and I are most creative when we work out! As stay at home moms, we both seem to produce our best ideas when we have a chance to shake of life, take a break, and break a sweat!
What is the weirdest job you have ever had?:
Not the weirdest job, but Wendy and I both worked as Lifeguards at the Beach Waterpark in Ohio while in college. We have always been extremely close and some days we would guard across the wave pool from each other. On slow days we would use sign language to be able to chat about the days work, customer interactions, or just funny things we saw that day! Only once did we ever notice someone paying attention to our conversation!
Which artist at The Handmade Market are you excited to see/meet?:
Nicole Lee Designs has fantastic looking purses and clutches with playful fabrics to choose from! Excited to see those products!
