Describe your style, influences, inspiration, and what you plan to bring:

I create mixed media art on wood. Texture plays a big roll from working with different grains in wood to using plaster with stencils for a raised design in a back ground. Animals are usually my subject matter because there’s just something intriguing and quirky about all of them. There’s nothing complicated about my art. It’s light and bright yet simple and sometimes (ok a lot of the time) humorous. Though prints are great, I believe everyone should be able to own original art so there are no prints offered except for my note card sets and wood slice magnets. Both of which are popular so I will have plenty to choose from along with an array of other small size originals.

How did you learn your craft?:

I grew up with a crafty mom, attended summer art camps and went to college for Fine Art and then changed my major eventually graduating in Graphic Design. Art was an inevitable outcome in my life. It’s a great feeling to do something I’m passionate about, but I still take a class here and there to learn from other artists and rekindle the creative spark when it gets low.

Which artist at The Handmade Market are you excited to see/meet?:

Pamut Apparel looks awesome!

What is your favorite way to put yourself in the mood for creativity?:

I have a long art table that looks out a window, but I tend to work at night because, well, I work better when my four year old is counting sheep. I tend to binge watch (listen) Flea Market Flip, Once Upon a Time or Black List.

What advice would you give to an artist just starting out and/or what is the best advice you have received for your art & business?:

Move on from each rejection. You can’t get into every show/festival you apply for. Don’t take it personally and move forward.

We all have those people that love you tell us what we “should” make. What’s the worst “best tip” you’ve ever gotten?:

I had someone tell me at a recent show I should cut a dachshund dog out of a piece of wood and make it extended in length. I mean maybe there is a client out there for that but not really my style. I told him I would do if he wanted to buy it. haha

If you have sold or attended before, what’s your favorite Handmade Market memory or purchase?:

I love all my mugs!! I have a pottery problem. Also, I have truly enjoyed being a part of the Handmade Market for the last 6 few years. The ladies that work so hard putting this together do it so well! I’ll always remember that.
