Urban Vintage Spotlight: HangarOne Design

Lynda Bryant-Comstock of HangarOne Design

Describe your style, influences, inspiration, and what you plan to bring:
At HangarOne Design, mid century modern and vintage pieces receive an expert makeover to provide distinctive, one-of-a-kind high quality furnishings.
This is more than a business, it is a passion. Passion for great form, structure and style. Passion for sourcing solidly built and well formed furniture. Passion for fabric that will bring life back to an old chair. Creating a stylish look by finding the right chair paired with the right fabric makes my heart sing.
I am inspired by the lines of the chair, the manufacturing process that created it, the years of patina and the bold fabric to give it new beginnings.

Who are your style crushes/vintage icons/fashion muses, and why/how do they influence you?:
My style crushes are not mainstream, they are the women and men who work in the vintage upholstery industry that bring talent, creative flair and updated style to make a piece of chair art. They help me push beyond my limits in terms of upholstery as well as bold design. They encourage me to be whimsical, classical, and extraordinary.

Everybody has that thing that got away, what’s the purchase you never made that still sometimes keeps you awake at night?:
The Eames chair that I simply walked by – sigh….

Where can customers usually shop your wares:
At the shop: 3401 University Dr., Durham NC, online, and at shows.
