Describe your style, influences, inspiration, and what you plan to bring: The Sweetest Things is all about using quality ingredients to update classic desserts. We want you to feel like a kid again when you’re eating our treats- a kid with really good taste. March is Women’s History Month, so we’ll be bringing desserts inspired by some of our favorite women! You can expect to see Grandma Stella’s Pound Cake, Mom’s German Chocolate Cake, and lots of desserts based on Girl Scout Cookies.
Who are your style crushes/vintage icons/fashion muses, and why/how do they influence you?: I love anything milk glass or pink- especially Pyrex and Depression Glass, and have been known to make desserts based on how they’ll look on my vintage serving dishes. I’m fairly certain I was supposed to be born in another era, and my philosophy about food and feeding people reflects my old- fashioned sensibilities.
What are the things customers seek you out for? I’ve accidentally become known as the “Giant Cookie Lady.” What started as an experiment quickly became an in- demand item. I’m also known for my chocolate desserts. If a little chocolate is good, a lot of chocolate is even better!
What’s your favorite thing about your city? The people! The Raleigh area is a growing mixture of transplants (myself included) and natives. Old- fashioned and modern. I love that so many of us have a desire to preserve the old while embracing the new.
Where can customers usually shop your wares? At: Sweet Tea and Cornbread 2031 Cameron S Raleigh, NC 27605
