Jodi Cedzidlo is the artist behind Flytrap. Jodi designs and screen prints all of her apparel and accessories the old-fashioned way — with her own two hands — in downtown Graham, NC. Jodi will have scarves, tees, cardigans, throw-overs, and other designs perfect for the fall and winter seasons.
What are you bringing to The Handmade Market on November 12? Anything new and exciting?
This year, for the first time ever, we are bringing scarves that were cut out by hand by a seamstress in Chatham County, NC! Obviously, this means we are doing more to support local businesses and handmade goods (so you can too), and it gives us more flexibility on which colors we carry. Flytrap is now offering scarves in delicious tomato red, smoky taupe, and creamy grass green, with even more new selections coming in November!
What is the best online resource that you’ve used for your business and why?
I would definitely have to say Colour Lovers! I consider myself a pretty hardcore color junky/color theory nerd, but anyone can work herself into a rut. This website is a fantastic collection of user-generated palettes to give you ideas and inspiration. Plus, I’ve found that sharing it with my clients helps us find a language to talk about color — across the country or on the other side of the world. You never have to wonder, “When they say ‘dark green,’ do they mean forest, hunter, or olive?”
What is your favorite fall comfort food? Can you share a link to a recipe or restaurant that serves it up?
Oh man — this one’s easy! Eric and I fully agree on the Portuguese soup: caldo verde, baby! This is the dish Eric makes me when I’ve had a 13-hour print day; this is the dish I make him to thank him for being so sweet. We use four small red potatoes but mostly just a lot of kale and smoked sausage, and it warms us right up! (Truth be told: We keep a down comforter on our couch all through the winter. We come home from our studios, get a bowl of caldo verde and a hunk of cornbread, and then we snuggle up with our dog + cat and chow down! But you didn’t hear that from me.)
Stop by the Flytrap booth at The Handmade Market on Saturday, November 12 and marvel at all of Jodi’s fantastic fall designs and color combos!
