About The Handmade Market
This bi-annual indoor designer craft market features fine art, apparel, jewelry, accessories, housewares, paper goods, and more. Find unique, handmade gifts or treat yourself to something special. You’re sure to find what you’re looking for (and more!) at The Handmade Market.
Shop & Win to Support a Good Cause
General admission to The Handmade Market (10am-5pm) is free, but every show we choose a local charity to support by way of a raffle at the entrance. Shoppers can buy raffle tickets in lieu of entry fee, and 100% of the raffle ticket sales goes to the chosen charity. The raffle prizes are always comprised of great products from local designers and businesses.
History of The Handmade Market
The Handmaidens created The Handmade Market after recognizing that there are few quality shows in the Southeast that cater to the region’s flourishing independent art and design scene. Taking matters into their own hands, they created The Handmade Market to promote the area’s emerging artists and to provide them with a venue for selling their work.
The Handmade Market was started on May 6, 2006, when 35 designers joined The Handmaidens. It was an overwhelming success, with customers waiting in line for the doors to open and arriving in droves throughout the day.
After a successful first event, The Handmaidens made The Handmade Market a semiannual shopping event. Now Triangle residents look forward to two superb shopping events — the spring show in May, timed perfectly for shopping for unique handcrafted Mother’s Day and graduation gifts, and the fall show in November that kicks off the holiday shopping season.
Hope to see you there!
The Handmade Market is produced by The Handmaidens, a North Carolina collective of artists and designers.
