Because Mall is a Four Letter Word

The Handmade Market Spotlight: 27th Star Co.

Paige from 27th Star Co.

Describe your style, influences, inspiration, and what you plan to bring:
My design style would have to follow the lines of a neutral color palette and using natural materials.

In your experience, what has been your best venue for selling your work:
For me, since I am still relatively new to the small business world, majority of my customers come from word-of-mouth. A close second behind that is instagram/facebook shares!

What is your favorite way to put yourself in the mood for creativity?:
I grab most of my design inspiration from nature. I feel most creative and productive after spending good quality time outdoors. While I am actually making though, music needs to be on. Spotify radios are key for me, keep it within the genres I like but keep the variety interesting enough.

What is the weirdest job you have ever had?:
Salad maker! I worked at an Italian restaurant in high school and my job was specifically to make the salads. That’s it!

Which artist at The Handmade Market are you excited to see/meet?:
I’m very excited to visit Elle Woods’ booth. I’m so obsessed with wood and always looking to increase my home decor collection!

What advice would you give to an artist just starting out and/or what is the best advice you have received for your art & business?:
I wish I would have been able to tell myself to not be afraid to take chances. In the beginning, I was so concerned if decisions I made made-sense in the long run, and I wish I stayed more in the moment and enjoyed the process of learning and making.

What is the best comment or compliment you have ever received for your work?
My favorite feedback is through social media. When artists and makers I admire follow me or share my images, it is such a small-victory for me!
