The Handmade Market Spotlight: Pickle Pie Pottery

 Dede from Pickle Pie Pottery

Describe your style, influences, inspiration, and what you plan to bring:
My favorite thing I make are my air plant pods. The standing ones look as if they could just walk away and each one has it’s own big personality. I have been recently rediscovering my love of teapots. These are very whimsical and I hope to have a few completed to bring to the show.

Which artist at The Handmade Market are you excited to see/meet?:
I just found out that COCOPOD is my neighbor at The Handmade Market. Chocolate is one of my favorite food groups, so YES I am very much looking forward to meeting COCOPOD.

What is your favorite way to put yourself in the mood for creativity?:
Music on is always a must. Although I work in the studio a lot, occasionally I take some small pieces for a walk in the woods where I find inspiration for some carving.

What is the best comment or compliment you have ever received for your work?
I love it when my customers tell me “Very nice craftsmanship”! Although I am constantly striving for movement and interest in my pieces, I always have fine craftsmanship in the back of my mind. I want my pieces to be not only interesting to the eye, but also to the touch.
